From Foundation level certification which requires a candidate to pass two test modules covering the major principles, design concepts, and service management processes of Enterprise Security Architecture, up to Master level certification which demonstrates advanced competencies and leadership in a chosen area of specialism, the SABSA certification framework is suitable for Security Architects at all career levels.

SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Foundation Certificate (SCF)

Foundation level examinations test professional competency up to level 2 in the SABSA Competency Framework (Knowledge and Comprehension).  Foundation level certification requires a candidate to pass 2 test modules consisting of 40 multiple choice questions.  Each test module is of 60 minutes duration.

SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Practitioner Certificates (SCP)

Practitioner level examinations test professional competency, in a chosen career specialism, up to level 4 in the SABSA Competency Framework (Knowledge, Comprehension, Application and Analysis).  Foundation level certification is a pre-requisite to attaining Practitioner level certification.

Practitioner level certification requires a candidate to pass two further test modules, each of 60 minutes duration and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions.  The test modules required depend upon the chosen career stream most suited to the needs of the Architect and their employer:

Risk Management & Governance Specialism (SCPR Certificate)

Candidiates are required to pass two test modules, each of 60 minutes duration and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions:  
  • SABSA Information Assurance (Test Module PM1)
  • SABSA Operational Risk Management (Test Module PM2)

Business Continuity & Crisis Management Specialism (SCPC Certificate)

Candidiates are required to pass two test modules, each of 60 minutes duration and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions: 
  • SABSA Information Assurance (Test Module PM1)
  • SABSA Business Continuity Management (Test Module PM3)

Security Architecture Design & Development Specialism (SCPA Certificate)

Candidiates are required to pass two test modules, each of 60 minutes duration and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions: 
  • SABSA Identity & Access Management Architecture (Test Module PT1)
  • SABSA Network Security Architecture & Design (Test Module PT2)

Security Operations & Service Management Specialism (SCPO Certificate)

Candidiates are required to pass two test modules, each of 60 minutes duration and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions: 
  • SABSA Identity & Access Management Architecture (Test Module PT1)
  • SABSA Intrusion & Incident Management (Test Module PT3)

SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Master Certificates (SCM)

Master level examinations test professional competency, in a chosen career specialism, up to level 6 in the SABSA Competency Framework (Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis and Evaluation).  Foundation and Practitioner level certifications are pre-requisites to attaining Master level certification.

Master level certification requires a candidate to pass three further test modules, each of 60 minutes duration and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions.  In addition Master candidates must demonstrate advanced capabilities through either interview with a panel of experts appointed by SABSA Institute or through submission of an Enterprise Security Architecture dissertation / case study.  The test modules required depend upon the chosen career stream most suited to the needs of the Architect and their employer.

Candidiates are required to pass three test modules, each of 60 minutes duration and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions: 
  • SABSA Management Skills (Test Module MS1)
  • SABSA Measurement & Performance Management (Test Module MM1)

Business Continuity & Crisis Management Specialism (SCMC Certificate)
